You love your guns. You have quite a collection of them, and the goodies that go along with them. Perhaps you’d like to pursue a hobby in collecting firearms, maybe even some of the really awesome numbers like vintage military models or historically significant pieces. But there’s all these rules and regulations standing in your way. You’re tired of having to pay someone every time you buy a gun from someone out of state. And how do you know that the firearms you plan to buy are coming from reputable people? Well, that’s where the Federal Firearms License comes in to save the day!

What is a FFL, exactly?

It’s a federally issued license to deal in, ship and manufacture firearms and other “destructive devices.” There are many types of FLL license available. Most dealers and collectors either have a Type 1, Type 2 or Type 3 FFL. Type 1’s allow you to buy and sell firearms directly across state lines. Type 2 FLLs allow you to operate a pawn shop in which firearms are bought and sold. And a Type 3 federal firearms license allows for the collecting, buying and selling of curio and relic firearms. Curio and relic firearms include those really cool vintage military pieces you drool over at gun shows and in magazines, as well as fully automatic pieces (provided they haven’t been converted or modified in any way) and accessories such as ammo and silencers.

Now, what’s all this got to do with you, Mr. Gun Owner?

Glad you asked! You know how when you buy a gun from an out-of-state dealer or individual you have to have it shipped to someone else? And then you usually have to pay them a handling fee for accepting your firearm and notifying you of its safe arrival in your neck of the woods? Well, that’s because they have a FFL. That FFL allows them to receive that firearm across state lines. And they get the privilege of charging you for having that FFL and receiving your gun. If you had your own FFL license, you could cut out that middle man completely. No more fees, no more driving across town or half the county just to pick up your new toy. It could come directly to you through the mail.

And you know that great Mauser you’ve had your eye on? And how much that dealer wants you to pay for it? How would you like to get your hands on it without the dealer’s interference and added costs? With your very own Type 3 FFL, you could! No more waiting for the gun show to come to town. No more waiting for the next great deal at the pawn shop or antique auction. You could go after the guns you always wanted, regardless of location, and have them in your hands in no time. No middle man, no waiting, no hassle.

A federal firearms license affords you freedoms you’ve only dreamed of until now. Isn’t it time you had one of your own?

Federal Firearms License (FFL) has been a legal requirement within the United States of America since the Gun Control Act of 1968. The license gives you, the individual or business, the legal documentation to engage in a business to manufacture or interstate or intrastate sale of firearms and ammunition.

The Federal Firearms License was established to put into practice or rather execute the Federal Firearms Act (FFA) of 1938. The license requires manufacturers and dealers of firearms, who ship or receive firearms and ammunition, interstate or foreign, to have a license. Transferring of firearms or most ammunition to anyone is forbidden unless certain conditions are met. Since Congress passed the Gun Control Act in 1968 the lawful interstate trade of firearms has been limited almost entirely to persons holding an FFL.

There are 3 Special Occupational Tax Classes of licensure and within each tax class are Usage Types in which to apply under. In addition, Collectors of Curio and Relic Firearms is another special type of FFL. To be recognized by the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) as a C & R firearm, the firearm must fall within one of three categories. Antique guns made before 1898 are generally outside of the federal jurisdiction therefore may be bought or sold across state lines without a FFL. Trying to figure out which class and usage type applies to you or which one best fits your needs, is an overwhelming task and most applicants give up their hopes of getting there FFL somewhere in this bureaucratic quagmire.

Accurate record keeping of a Federal Firearms License is a must. A person or business is expected to maintain an ATF approved bound book, “Firearms Transaction Records” or use a computerized approved ATF software of firearms sales. Keep in mind the ATF is allowed to inspect or request a copy of your records during a criminal investigation. The sale of two or more hand guns to any person in a given period must be reported to ATF and is an example of how what you don’t know could hurt you.

The ATF will approve the application based on a number of criteria to be met in addition to what the applicant must certify. Navigating through the path of federal criteria can be a nightmare and 90% of applicants get turned down.

Sifting through the sources of information and making sure you are getting the correct information from the right source can be risky in this day where anybody can publish online as an expert. You could delve into the depths of bureaucratic publications on the hopes that you have downloaded the most current regs, or you can have confidence in my advise and expertise.

March 23, 2012 12:00 am

I recently read an interesting response from Robert Mackowski in response to the gun control rhetoric that’s the hot topic of almost every political season. With the current administration reaching to control crime through limiting our constitutional rights, the discussion is as hot a debate as ever. But I found his point that LEGAL gun ownership and criminal use of a gun were right on and that the use of an FFL in straw purchases is a misnomer. But read on and decide for yourself which argument holds more water. – Brandon

“I’ve had enough. I can’t take it anymore. Almost daily I read someone saying ridiculous things about gun control, and after reading Martha D. Smith’s rant about semi-automatic handguns (“Death Merchants,” March 20 letter), that was the last straw. So I would like to point out a few things.

Does Ms. Smith realize that if Congress were to ban semi-automatic handguns, which have been made since the late 1800s, our military and police would be using flintlock pistols like those in the Civil War? Ah, nostalgia, how great it would be. Sorry, Ms. Smith, but banning semi-automatic handguns would only hurt law-abiding citizens, law enforcement and our military, not the criminals who break the law regardless.

As for the issue of “straw purchases” of guns and purchases of guns online: Try to do it, and let me know how it works out for you. You can’t buy a gun online without a federal firearms license or using someone else’s FFL, and normally you have to pay for that privilege. Even then the seller has to have a copy of the FFL before the item can be shipped. Also, trying to purchase a gun for someone is a felony, and all law-abiding citizens know this and will not purchase a firearm for someone else. It used to be just handguns, now it is all firearms. Again, it is the criminals who are doing this, and they don’t care that they are breaking the law, and I suspect they aren’t going to the local gun shop to purchase a firearm. They are more than likely buying the guns off the street because they can’t purchase a gun legally.”

When it comes to attaining a Federal Firearms License (FFL) it can be a real struggle to find updated and reliable information. Much of what can be found online is incorrect, out of date, confusing, and even costly. Many who would like to have their FFL give up simply because of the hassle. These people then end up paying large sums of money out to other people who have their FFL License each and every time they purchase a gun. Now they are making someone else money they could have avoided every paying out.

With the Federal Firearms License kit, all the information you need is finally in one place. You can legally attain your FFL and save yourself the hassle and risk of making easy mistakes simply by following the guide in the kit. Your questions will be answered, and in no time you will have your Federal Firearms License application in and approved, and you will begin saving money immediately on every single gun you purchase.

When it comes to buying, selling, and owning guns there is a lot of red tape. The sooner you get your FFL, the sooner you will be legally avoiding a lot of red tape that use to give you trouble and cost you money. At www.federalfirearmslicense.com you will find all the information you need to get your Federal Firearms License Application filled out and you can be sure that it was done correctly. With this kit, you are offered a 150% guarantee that you will have all the information you need. If you are not satisfied or are unhappy with the kit, you will receive a full refund! – Brandon

“So before you write about gun control, stop and think about who is committing crimes with guns. Is it the guy with the family next door who owns a handgun to protect his family, a shotgun to shoot skeet and a rifle for deer hunting, or the criminal who just held up your local convenience store? 1″

Colorado -–(FFLLicense.com)- If your reading this you mostly likeley are in the fight to support your RKBA and you need to be aware of this.

Right now, my staff is not only working long hours to defend gun rights at the national level, but they are working state legislatures as well.

And they’ve uncovered an incredible anti-gun crusade that goes right down to your city hall.

Simply put, George Soros is working to ban guns in your town.

Sound hard to believe? Maybe, but it is amazing what can be done with several billion dollars and an army of left-wing hirelings.

Soros is working with the National League of Cities to push big city gun control in small towns all over the country.

And right now, Soros and his allies are winning…

That’s why I hope you’ll step up to stop Soros’ gun ban scheme.

Not even well-known anti-gun crusaders like Sarah Brady have been able to accomplish what the Soros-backed League of Cities is doing right now.

While the gun rights battle has been raging in Washington, D.C. George Soros has been quietly investing billions (yes, that’s with a “b”) in taking power on the state and local levels.

The Soros-backed National League of Cities and their affiliated state Municipal Leagues have become a major conduit of Soros’ aggressive anti-gun agenda.

The National League of Cities’ stated goals include:

*** Registration for all handguns;

*** Banning semi-automatic firearms;

*** Cracking down on gun shows;

*** A thirty-day waiting period on all gun purchases;

*** Ending the manufacture of 10-round magazines;

*** Gun bans in parks and libraries and other public places.

Just within the last month, a parade of taxpayer funded Municipal stooges showed up to support city-level gun bans in New Hampshire.

In South Dakota, the state Municipal League is using tax dollars to push for sweeping self-defense bans in city parks, libraries, transit buses and numerous other public places.

The League has also been pushing a similar agenda in Pennsylvania, Illinois, Connecticut, Delaware, North Carolina and Virginia.

The gun rights battles in Washington, D.C. are fierce enough. Now we’re also facing increasing attacks in State Capitols and City Council Chambers nationwide.

Thanks again and keep a look out in your town for this new threat.
